Set against the symbolism of the Fire Horse year in the Chinese zodiac, “Born of Fire” operates as a double entendre referencing both the Fire Horse and the local fashion landscape — one shaped by endurance and sustained practice, where graduates and pioneers alike are driven by the same passion, sustained by the same fire.
The series brings together garments by a new generation of local fashion graduates, presented alongside a local fashion pioneer, Max Tan, whose practice extends beyond independent design into national cultural production. Anchoring the narrative is a veteran, locally-rooted model whose career has since extended onto the global stage, allowing legacy and emergence to unfold in one dialogue.
